If you're not paying for The Expanse, it could get cancelled

I'm hoping this Wired article about The Expanse isn't true, but with expensive-to-produce sci-fi shows, it might be...

First of all, it would have been nice of  Mr Epstein to bring the name of the thread to my attention, so I would not have repeated previous efforts.

All these network executives care about is ratings and having a reasonable rate of return on there investment.

We don't want to be in a place where the show is on the bubble, and start letter-writing campaigns and multi-signature petitions to get their attention, otherwise it would be like begging and they would choose the bare amount of episodes  to appease the fans.

My only advice would be a refrain of the author's advice, namely to buy the episodes on whatever platform.

Moreover, if you are a household selected by the Nielsen Company, please show your interest by watching the show live, plus DVR viewings , and Video on Demand, and streaming so it can be factored in their

Live + 3 Days, and Live + 7 days viewing numbers

  1. One way to help would be to get Fandom to feature The Expanse on one of its main page stories feeds, like: http://fandom.wikia.com/topics/tv
    Or, even better: http://fandom.wikia.com/
However, I'm not sure how we could get this to happen.
  2. Another idea which wouldn't be as effective, but would help a bit would be a Fandom Spotlight.
    I could work on this.
  3. Hype up season 3 on Reddit.
I don't really like Reddit, so I won't be doing this, but if anyone is a big Reddit fan and knows how to work its system...
  4. Write some high quality blogs and try to get them featured in some high profile way.
I might at least write a blog.
  5. Start a podcast or youtube channel about Expanse fandom and promote it.
This would be the long road, lots of work, and already has some competitors. I don't have the time for this, unfortunately.

Speaking of which how did the Net Neutrality campaign work out. If it was of moderate success, we could apply the same principles fot promoting the expanse.

Not comparable. The Net Neutrality thing wasn't specific to a Fandom topic and made sense to promote on any wikis.

On some wikis, I saw something called an improvement drive. It seems like a cyclical issue, i.e. every few weeks the site would be corrected en masse.  Maybe tie the promotion campaign with the improvement drive.

I figure if you promoted the show everyday, people would lose interest.

If you see the "Improvement drive" thing, send a link or take a screenshot... it would be interesting to see how they did it.

I guess it wasn't clear from my earlier post, but I think we need to think about promoting The Expanse outside this wiki as well as here. So far, I think this wiki is excellent as it is for finding comprehensive info, but it needs more news-like stuff or analysis to make it stand out and have something to draw in the curious who aren't as concerned about minute details of specific subjects.

Outside the wiki, like newspapers, I do not know about that.

If anything at all maybe some of the online blogs or magazines like wired , io9.gizmodo.com, verge , or denofgeeks, ars technica

PS: just saw manual of style, is it possible to place it on the top navigation bar, so it is easy to reference

The navigation bar is primarily for less experienced readers and not editors, so I'd be hesitanto move it higher up in the menu hierarchy. Plus, Fandom is very limiting in how many items you can get in the menus. Is it really that hard to find at About us → About this wiki → Manual of Style?

I was not aware it  was in "about this wiki", I had no reason to believe I could find it in "about this wiki". I got the impression the "about this wiki" was where talked  about the mission statement of the site and the active administrators.
