Pages Question

Is there an official policy on pages for the TV and book versions of the Expanse? Because there's a lot of variations between pages on how it is made different, and I wonder if it is best to have utilize a single format.

Unfortunately, not yet. The admins discussed it, but they haven't gotten a draft yet.

Here's some guidelines (this is just from me, not admin-approved):

  • If the character only appears in either books or TV show and unlikely to appear in the other media, just give the page the name of the character (without the title, i.e. no Captain name, just name).
  • If the character appears in the books, but not yet in the TV show:
    • Use page name name (Books) and add templates TVlink and to the top of the page.
  • If the character appears in the TV show, but not in the books:
    • Use page name name (TV) and add templates Bookslink and to the top of the page.
  • For a character that appears on both books and TV show with the same name, make a page name with the following:
disambig
<!---->
NAME could refer to:
* NAME (Books)
* NAME (TV)
  • For characters that appear in the books that you're confident will appear on the TV show, but haven't yet, you can create name (TV) page and put template Not yet on TV at the top of the page.
  • For characters that appear on the TV show that you're confident will appear in a future book (unlikely, tho), but haven't yet, you can create name (Books) page and put template Not mentioned in books at the top of the page.

That should get you started.

Fandyllic saves the day. Again. For more (partial) guidelines, please see Thread 8228, Thread 6741, and Thread 9221.

As soon as I have the necessary time, I will compose a single thread including all required guidelines for new contributors.

I think this only covered characters.  a guide for how to do the same for locations/spaceships, events, organizations...??

Non-characters seem to be a mixed bag, so you could apply the same stuff, but new templates would probably have to be made. For some reason, only the Canterbury has been disambig'd for spaceships. Most of the others mostly cover what happens in the books with a separate section about the TV show, like Arboghast and Scopuli.

I saw a precedent for having separate pages/articles when describing characters but no such precedent for having separate pages when describing everything else.  I took that to be the convention as opposed to simply being a hole in completeness.  If the rule is to have separate pages instead of only separate sections within a single page, then that could make things easier..... in certain ways.
