Carol Chiwewe is the leader of the settlement group on Ilus IV.

Description

Carol Chiwewe is a tall, stocky Martian woman, with a broad accent and finger-cut hair. She is smart and focused and strong-minded without being bullish.

Biography

Carol Chiwewe had been everyone’s first choice for coordinator when the settlers, made up primarily of Belters that arrived first via the Barbapiccola, landed on Ilus.

Throughout the books

Upon landing on Ilus, James Holden was apprached by Chiwewe to complain that Adolphus Murtry threatened the settlers with martial law under the RCE charter with teh UN.

When Holden ordered the evacuation of the planet due to the activation of the Ring Builder Empire technology. Chiwewe wasn't happy with his decision. Later, when the settlement is threatened by a massive flood and they are unable to evacuate the planet, Chiwewe ensures people are prepared and mobilizing to take shelter in the Ring Builder ruins.

After the flood and safe in the acnient ruins, she and the survivors face a complicated situation of low supplies, an infection that is spreading through the survivors, and the discovery of deadly slugs in the ruins. Through it all, she works to keep the settlers together and safe.

After the flodd waters recede, Chiwewe oversees the evacuation of the ruins and the rebuilding of the settlement.
