The United Nations Marine Corps (UNMC) is part of the United Nations (UN) Armed Forces and the space naval infantry branch of the United Nations Navy (UNN). Well trained and equipped, they serve on Earth, aboard UNN ships, and UN protectorates in the Belt and Outer Planets stations.

Overview[]

Like their counterparts, the Martian Marine Corps (MMC), UN Marines use powered, vacuum-rated and radiation shielded armor, enabling them to operate in a variety of combat environments, and utilize a variety of weapons and tactics. Specialized UNMC Marines use Reaver Powered Armor whereas standard Marines are equipped with UN light armor.

UN Marines serve on Earth as military police and guards, aboard UNN Ships as their troop complements and shipboard security, and on UN protectorates in the Belt or in the Outer Planets as guards and soldiers.

The United Nations Marine Corps can place up to 100 million troops throughout the Sol system at any given time, far outnumbering any other army, including the likes of the Martian Marine Corps, supported by the fact that UN Marines are born, raised, trained, and live in the constant, full gravity of Earth, gives them a considerable advantage against their enemies, such as the MMC, as they are accustomed to the lower gravity of their planet. The former leader of the Outer Planets Alliance (OPA), Fred Johnson, was formerly a colonel in the United Nations Marine Corps, where he gained infamy throughout the system as the “Butcher of Anderson Station.”

Appearances[]

At Anderson Station, Colonel Fred Johnson of the UNMC was present during the incident of the station, and it would be where he would gain his moniker as "The Butcher of Anderson Station."

A UN Marine unit was on patrol duty at Ganymede at the time of the Ganymede incident after the Eros incident, when they encountered the live field testing of Project Caliban and are assumed to have been killed in action by the protomolecule hybrid.

A UN Marine detachment guarded the UN border beyond the MCR embassy on Earth whom MMC Gunnery Sergeant Bobbie Draper surrendered to upon escaping from the embassy, requesting political asylum on Earth.

A UN Marine was posted to stand guard outside the med-bay of the UNN Agatha King by Fleet Admiral Augusto Nguyễn after he ordered Cotyar Ghazi be detained there as a prisoner of war. He was later replaced by a UNN MP after Lieutenant Shaffer ordered him to abandon his post to assist in combating a supposed electrical fire to allow Admiral Michael Souther to access the med-bay and speak to Cotyar in private.

UN Marines are later deployed to the OPAS Behemoth from the UNN Thomas Prince and other UNN ships trapped in the Slow Zone by Commander Kunis to maintain order and security aboard the OPA vessel in anticipation of an outbreak of mass hysteria after Commander Klaes Ashford convinced the UNN and MCRN commanders that they must use the Behemoth's communications laser to destroy the Ring to prevent the Ring Station from destroying the Sol system which would strand the flotilla as a result.

Marines were deployed onboard three breaching pods to board the Pizzouza in search of OPA terrorist Marco Inarcos who had been spotted on board on a video feed and not believed to have exited the ship. UN Marines made their way through the ship to vital areas. Upon entering the bridge, several crew members fired upon the Marines causing a firefight. At this point, the ship exploded, detonated by Marco Inaros, who was actually not on the ship. This killed all on board including the Marines.

Free Navy Conflict[]

During the Ceres Offensive of the Free Navy Conflict, the EMC Joint Fleet sent UNMC, led by Sergeant Ebron, and regular MMC marine troops to support the landing and occupy Ceres' docks after two MMC Force Recon marines had been dispatched to secure the imminent area of the docks.

After the initial arrival, several hidden explosives of the Free Navy severely damaged Ceres' docks and likely killed and injured a number of UNMC and MMC marines.

UNMC marines were deployed onboard a skiff towards Ring station however the skiff travelled too fast being caught by the speed limit and presumably killing the onboard marines.
