Marama Brown was a freelance mining technician for Anderson-Hyosung Cooperative Industries Group. He had a four year old daughter named Hinekiri, who had hypoxic brain injury because she was born in the thin atmosphere aboard Brown's prospecting ship.

He was one of the leaders of the insurgence on Anderson Station. He repeatedly emphasized that the death of management had been accidental. Although he surrendered, he was killed when the United Nations and Colonel Fred Johnson forcibly retook the station. The protesters had not been well-armed and their surrender had never been forwarded to Johnson commanding the suppression forces. Johnson had actively requested a negotiator report but had been denied.
