At the beginning of theLaconia-Sol Conflict the Sharon Chavez was waiting outside of a Ring Gate when the Magnetar-class battleship Heart of the Tempest used its USM field projector against the Railgun emplacements mounted on the Ring Station.[1] The resulting gamma blast that was emitted from the Ring Gates killed the crew of the Chavez and three other freighters that had been ready to transit other Gates. Emergency systems kicked in on each of the four freighters and their autopilots stopped the ships to prevent them from becoming unmanned projectiles.[2]
