The Xerxes-class battleship is a class of United Nations Navy (UNN) capital ship. It is considered to be a third-generation battleship, as it represents the third redesign since the buildup of the first conflict between Earth and Mars[1]. Ships of this class measure at just over 500 meters in length, and 200 meters at their widest point [2]. Similar to the MCRN's Donnager-class, the Xerxes-class warship is capable of carrying multiple shuttles and corvettes within its hangars.[3]
Xerxes was a Persian king who was involved in the Greco-Persian Wars on Earth during the 5th century BC. One of the most significant offensives of the war was the Battle of Thermopylae, where Spartan king Leonidas I and his three hundred soldiers held off the assaults of the Persian army in a valiant last stand.
